Ghost City: The Annals of Pre-Gentrification

Tonight, join your host Commander Sub-Zero, journalist Mark Jacobson and photographer James Hamilton for a haunted tour of New York’s Times Square old and new.

Jacobson and Hamilton worked together for many years as a team at the Village Voice during the 1970’s and 80’s. Come and slum to stories and images of another, mostly black and white NYC. Hamilton was the Voice staff photographer for more than a decade, during which time he took about a 100 years worth of great pictures. Tonight, several of his Times Square and related images will be projected to accompany a discussion by Jacobson and other writers (some famous) familiar with the time. Street musicians of then and now will add extra entertainment. Some de-grunging may be required following presentation.
