This full-day event begins with a historical overview of the era by author David Garrard Lowe, followed by in-depth talks focusing on what we can learn about the social and economic lives of the city’s elite from material culture, including jewelry, costume, and interior design. Participants will enjoy private tours of the museum’s costume collection and the exhibition, gather for morning coffee and afternoon tea, and take home a signed copy of the companion publication.
