Gregg Bordowitz on Hanne Darboven

Gregg Bordowitz was born in Brooklyn in 1964. An artist and writer, he has turned his attention to performance in the past few years. His lecture-performance Sex Mitigating Death: On Discourse and Drives: A Meditative Poem was presented at the Tate Modern in London in 2011. His films, including Fast Trip, Long Drop (1993), The Suicide (1996), and Habit (2001), have been screened internationally. His most recent book, titled General Idea: Imagevirus, was published by Afterall Books in 2010 and a collection of his writings, titled The AIDS Crisis Is Ridiculous and Other Writings 1986–2003, was published by MIT Press in 2004. He is currently the director of the Low-Residency MFA program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He lives in New York.
