A panel discussion on climate risk, environmental justice, and community action in Harlem, presented as part of Harlem Week.
Keynote by Peggy Shepard, Co-Founder and Executive Director of WE ACT for Environmental Justice. The panel brings together researchers, elected officials, and community leaders to examine what government and institutions are doing to address disproportionate climate impacts in neighborhoods like Harlem, and how community organizations, local businesses, and academic institutions can drive policy change.
Panelists include Daniel A. Zarrilli, Chief Climate & Sustainability Officer at Columbia University (moderator); Sheila R. Foster, Professor of Climate at Columbia Climate School; Michael Bobker, Founding Director of CUNY BPL; Paul Lozito, Deputy Executive Director of the NYC Office of Climate & Environmental Justice; Adaeze Okoli, Chief of Staff at Rethink Food; and Christine Osuji, Director of Environmental Justice at ConEdison. Closing remarks by Dr. Patricia Ramsey, President of Medgar Evers College.
