Heritage Ball Honoree Program with Friends of the High Line

Joshua David and Robert Hammond, Co-Founders, Friends of the High Line are 2012 Heritage Ball honorees.

Mr. David, Co-Founder of Friends of the High Line, has lived in Chelsea since 1986. Before he turned his attention to the High Line, he was a freelance magazine writer and freelance editor for Gourmet, Fortune, Travel + Leisure, Wallpaper, and others. He is a member of the Advisory Council of Transportation Alternatives. From 2000 to 2006, Joshua was a member of Manhattan Community Board No. 4, where he served on the Transportation and Planning Committee and played a leadership role in successfully advocating for the 8th Avenue bike lane. He has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hammond, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Friends of the High Line, has lived in the West Village since 1994. He has worked as a consultant for a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors and non-profits, including the Times Square Alliance, Alliance for the Arts and National Cooperative Bank (NCB). Robert is also a self-taught artist. From 2002 to 2005 he served as an Ex-Officio Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was awarded the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome in 2009. Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, he graduated with Honors in History from Princeton University.
