#HiketoHellGate17

On Saturday March 25th 2017, Queenscapes in conjunction with the Greater Astoria Historical Society and A Story of Astoria, present the #HiketoHellGate17, a photo walk created to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Hell Gate bridge in Astoria, Queens. #HiketoHellGate17 looks to combine the tenets of your traditional photo walking tour complete with tour guide, along with the community aspects of the popular social media driven Instameet. So come out to explore with us and take photos, or NOT at all, while we all explore and learn a little more of a lesser known strip of Western Queens. Walk begins at Socrates Sculpture Park, located at 32-01 Vernon Boulevard at 12noon, and will make various stops before the final destination point of the fabled HellGate Bridge. Tour to be co-hosted by myself, Tarif Anzum, Greater of Astoria Historical Society historian Richard Melnick, and photographer Dave “The Bridge Man” Frieder, who has been photographing New York City bridges since 1993. We’ll also have amazing prizes for raffle and photo challenge winners provided from over 10 small local Queens businesses. To be eligible for prizes, please click on link in bio above to register now!
