How Girls Achieve: The Power of Positive Identities and Feminist Schools to Let Girls Learn

If we want girls to succeed, we need to teach them the audacity to transgress. Through years of deep immersion at non-elite schools in Ghana, South Africa, and America, scholar-activist Sally Nuamah identifies the key changes that need to be made to make school more conducive to girls’ success in and out of the classroom. Sally invites you to discuss these changes through a conversation on her new book, How Girls Achieve.

Sally A. Nuamah is a scholar, activist, and filmmaker. She was selected a Change-Maker by the White House and received the Black Women Organized for Political Action’s Under 40 Award in Education. HerStory, her award-winning documentary, has been screened across the world. Nuamah began the TWII Foundation to provide funding for girls striving to be first in their families to go to college.
