How to Be an Artist: A Conversation with Jerry Saltz and Michael Rips
Join us for a lively and interactive presentation featuring art critic Jerry Saltz in conversation with League director Michael Rips.
Join us SATURDAY MAY 23 at 2PM for a lively and interactive presentation featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic Jerry Saltz in conversation with The Art Students League’s Executive Director Michael Rips on Facebook Live!
The program is inspired by the recent release of his book How to Be an Artist , described in Saltz’s own words as “33 rules to take you from clueless amateur to generational talent (or at least help you live life a little more creatively).” This virtual program is packed with dozens of rules, prompts, exercises, and tips (Tell Your Own Story and You Will Be Interesting; Imagination Is More Important than Knowledge; Make Art for Now, Not for the Future; and Finish the Damn Thing!) designed to break through creative blocks, ignite motivation, conquer bad habits, and help artists of all kinds-painters, photographers, writers, performers-realize their dreams.
So send us your deepest, darkest questions to be answered by Jerry himself and follow us @ASLNYC on Instagram and Facebook to learn how to win one of 275 FREE copies of How to Be an Artist.
