ICP Talks: Lynsey Addario on Photojournalism Now

What has changed in the field of photojournalism over the last decade? What are the major challenges to documenting conflict? How do you develop a sustained relationship with writers and editors? Join us for a special ICP Talks: Lessons and Insights in Photography lecture with esteemed photographer Lynsey Addario on Photojournalism Now. Addario will share her recent projects while also discussing how working as a photojournalist has evolved and how she has built relationships with writers and editors over her decades-long career. ICP’s Managing Director of Programs David Campany will join Addario for a conversation after the lecture, followed by a Q&A with the audience.

An award-winning photojournalist, Addario is known for her powerful photographs often focusing on women perspectives and humanitarian issues from within conflict zones. Regularly on assignment for the New York TimesNational Geographic, and Time Magazine, Addario has over 30 years of experience working as a photojournalist, collaborating with editors and writers on stories ranging from the New York Times Magazine story,“Talibanistan,” which won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting, to intimate and powerful features covering maternal mortality in Afghanistan, devastating famine in Yemen, and the life of Syrian refugees. She has released two books, It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War and Of Love & War in recent years, highlighting 200 photographs that demonstrate Addario’s commitment to capturing human rights crisis and injustices.

Lecture is scheduled to take place from 1 to 2 PM EST.
