Dir. Mary Bronstein. 2025, 113 mins. U.S. DCP. With Rose Byrne, Conan O’Brien, A$AP Rocky, Danielle Macdonald, Christian Slater. Rose Byrne gives one of the year’s great full-tilt performances in this brilliantly nightmarish evocation of a woman’s unrelenting experience as a stressed-out mom. As a therapist dealing with an ailing young daughter, a burst water main in the bedroom, and a series of colleagues and patients who are different gradations of (incredibly) unhelpful, Byrne collapses comedy and horror, while writer-director Mary Bronstein creates a world of escalating absurdity around her. It’s cinema as constant boiling point, and you can’t take your eyes off it. An A24 release.
