Inauguration Alternative: A Conversation with Keally McBride

Keally McBride, joins us for a dialogue surrounding her new book, Mr. Mothercountry (Oxford University Press; 2016), with Karuna Mantena (Political Science; Yale) and Linda Ross Meyer (Quinnipiac School of Law). Mr. Mothercountry explores the gap between the ideal of the rule of law, and then, the ways in which it’s been practiced and enforced–and also considers what the historical legacy of British Colonialism means for how different groups view international law today. This conversation, which coincides with the presidential inauguration, is certainly timely, and is related to the Center for Contemporary Critical Thought’s Nietzsche 13/13 series. A seminar on Frantz Fanon (January 19) precedes this conversation. RSVP to Anna Krauthamer at [email protected] to reserve a seat.
