Inside Industry Tour | Love Stories & Letterpress: Woodside Press

Hundreds of thousands of people have worked at the Yard…and a few have found love. This tour examines the site’s history through several love stories and culminates in a visit to Woodside Press, a traditional letterpress studio operating within the Yard since 1998. Visitors will start their experience at Building 92 and get a general overview of the Yard before focusing on the 20th century and the influx of women workers to the Yard during WWII, which inevitably led to many matches and a few marriages. To get a better understanding of the businesses at the Yard today, a culminating trip to Woodside Press showcases some of the modern manufacturing and making unfolding on site and gives visitors a glimpse at the 450+ businesses that call the Yard home. Plus, staff of Woodside Press will explain the letterpress process and give demonstrations that include a Valentine’s takeaway for participants.
