Alain Elkann is an author, intellectual and journalist born in New York in 1950. He has maintained a weekly interview column for the Italian national daily newspaper La Stampa since 1989. His archive encompasses an impressive and eclectic range of celebrated subjects, including award-winning writers and editors; film stars and directors; fashion designers and businessmen; artists, collectors and museum curators; politicians and diplomats; economists and historians; thinkers and human rights activists. His new volume Interviews, collects the most relevant conversations; Assouline is the publisher.

Diane von Furstenberg entered the world of American fashion in the seventies, when she arrived in New York from Europe with a suitcase full of Italian jersey dresses she had designed. Today, DVF is a global luxury fashion brand.  She is the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) council’s chairman. In 2014, the iconic wrap dress was celebrated with the “Journey of a Dress” exhibition in Los Angeles, and she also published her memoir, The Woman I Wanted to Be, translated in five languages. In 2015, she was named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.

John Micklethwait is the Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg where he oversees editorial content across all Bloomberg platforms, as well as its research services. Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2015, Micklethwait was Editor-in-Chief of The Economist where he led the newspaper into the digital age while expanding its readership and enhancing its reputation. He is the co-author of six books, most recently The Fourth Revolution: The Global Race to Reinvent the State. In 2010, Micklethwait was named Editors’ Editor by the British Society of Magazine Editors.
