Investigating the Merchant’s House: Why Isn’t the Fence Black Anymore?

The Museum is now engaged in implementing a house-wide series of restoration projects in an effort to present an even more authenticinterpretation of the house and the Tredwell family’s original furnishings between 1835 to 1865. Join Vincent Plescia, Independent Museum Consultant, for a “Behind the Ropes” tour where he will discuss the results of the top-to-bottom paint analysis, highlighting the newly discovered green paint on the front ironwork. Mr. Plescia will also discuss the structural changes uncovered and forensic techniques employed to determine appropriate window treatments and floor coverings. At the end of the tour, enjoy a glass of wine in the Museum’s lush 19th-century garden.
