Desire & Solitude: The Cinema of Isabel Sandoval

Asia Society presents "Desire & Solitude: The Cinema of Isabel Sandoval," a film series featuring Sandoval's latest work alongside two films that inspired it and her three previous features.

The series opens with Sandoval's debut feature Señorita (Philippines, 2011, 100 min., in Tagalog with English subtitles). Donna, a trans woman in a small Philippine town, works as aide to a mayoral candidate by day while remaining entangled in the sex work she left behind in Manila. When she crosses a powerful client to protect her candidate, the consequences test her resolve.

Screening followed by a Q&A with Sandoval, moderated by Asia Society Curator of Film Inney Prakash.
