J.D. Salinger had a deep and enduring relationship with Swami Nikhilananda, founder and spiritual leader of the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center of New York. To coincide with the 150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda, the Center presents to the Morgan its important collection of Salinger's letters written to Swami Nikhilananda, Swami Adiswarananda, and the Center. Kenneth Slawenski, author of J.D. Salinger: A Life, will talk about this unknown side of Salinger's life.
