John Kenney & Jami Attenberg

Brooklyn author John Kenney mines his own advertising background to weave spot-on insider details into his debut novel Truth in Advertising, a wickedly funny send-up of the absurdities of corporate life. The novel stars Finbar Dolan, who has escaped his blue-collar Boston upbringing to carve out a mildly successful career at a Madison Avenue ad agency, where his life revolves around a diaper account and his “work wife” is a bigger part of his life than his fiancée. Kenney discusses his novel with author Jami Attenberg, author most recently of the acclaimed novel The Middlesteins, who has written that Kenney’s novel “nails the advertising world’s absurd complexities and hilarious personalities. But it goes beyond a send-up of corporate America: this is an open, funny, emotionally true book, with numerous charms. I found it irresistible.” Join us for a reading and conversation.
