John Luther Adams in Conversation with Lucian Read

A special evening of film clips and conversation with John Luther Adams and award-winning photographer, cinematographer, and producer Lucian Read, whose climate change documentary Years of Living Dangerously won an Emmy in 2014. Also included will be a short preview of Where the Air Is Music, Read’s upcoming documentary on John Luther Adams, Read’s short about the Dakota Access Pipeline protest Mni Wiconi: The Stand at Standing Rock, and more.

Lucian is an award-winning producer, cinematographer and conflict photographer. He was co-creator, director, and director of photography for the 2016 inequality-in-America documentary series, America Divided. He was awarded the 2015 Emmy for the Best Spanish Language Long Form Documentary for an investigation of deaths on the US-Mexico border. Read was co-producer and principal cinematographer for the 2014 Emmy-winning climate change documentary series, Years of Living Dangerously. He directed the Occupy Wall Street feature documentary 99%, — an official 2013 Sundance selection. His photojournalism work during the Iraq and Afghan Wars for publications such as Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Newsweek and Time garnered a World Press Photo Award in 2006. A collection of his work is in the permanent collection of the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. His work as a producer for the newsmagazine program Dan Rather Reports from the Afghan War was nominated for an Emmy in 2010. Other cinematography credits include the feature documentaries Be Right Back: Maurizio Cattelan, Kiryas Joel, Steve Jobs and Time To Choose.
