This illustrated presentation chronicles the New Yorker cartoonist and painter's experiences as a young World War II soldier. From letters, drawings, and pictures, he tells of Christmas in the trenches, long walks through the rain and mud, landscapes of fear and despair, lost friends and leaders, and changing beliefs about human nature, God, and the Germans.
