Spend the evening listening to Joyce Johnson discuss the life of Jack Kerouac with New York Times journalist John Leland. Johnson is known for her classic memoir Door Wide Open where she candidly discusses her intimate relationship with Kerouac. In her new book, The Voice Is All: The Lonely Victory of Jack Kerouac, Johnson delves more deeply into Kerouac’s background, his childhood and his rise to fame.
Joyce Johnson has written eight books including the most recent, The Voice Is All. She’s also written for countless magazines including Harper’s, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and The New York Times Magazine.
John Leland is a journalist and writer. He has written three books including Why Kerouac Matters: The Lessons of On the Road (They’re Not What You Think). Leland has been with The New York Times since 2000.
