Ian Somerhalder currently stars as Damon Salvatore on CW’s hit show The Vampire Diaries, which will return for a seventh season this fall. He is also currently the face of Azzaro Pour Homme, the luxury fashion brand’s men’s fragrance. In December 2010 he established the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which aims to empower, educate, and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its inhabitants. Ian also serves on the advisory board of RYOT.org, and in 2010 he co-founded and launched Go Green Mobile Power, the world leader in providing “eco-fficient” power and LED lighting solutions for a variety of mobile applications. In 2014 Somerhalder was named a United Nations Environmental Program Goodwill Ambassador for his activism.

Carol Anne Clayson is a Senior Scientist in the Department of Physical Oceanography at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). She has been tenured faculty at Florida State University and Purdue University, and while at FSU was the Director of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Institute. Dr. Clayson is the author or co-author of over 45 journal articles, two books on air-sea boundary layers and numerical ocean modeling, as well as holding one patent. Her current areas of research include understanding how air-sea interactions affect the climate scale, how the global water cycle is varying, and how the ocean responds to processes such as tropical cyclones.
