Kathryn Posin Dance Company

Kathryn Posin Dance Company has been invited by the 92nd St. Y to re-open the fabled Kaufmann Concert Hall, for years one of New York’s major dance venues, re-opening after a long closure. Performances will take place Feb. 11 & 12 on the stage that has seen many early performances by the companies of Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, and the 1967 choreographic debut of Kathryn Posin. The program will feature the world premiere of “Climate Control,” set to Meredith Monk’s 1992 “Facing North,” and performed live by Ms. Monk and her equally virtuosic partner Theo Bleckmann. Also featured will be a revival of Posin’s 1975 “Waves,” originally commissioned by the American Dance Festival and set to an original piece by electronic music pioneer Laurie Spiegel. “Century Rolls,” set to an exciting score by John Adams, will complete the program Amar Ramasar, principal of New York City Ballet, will guest at the Friday evening performance.
