Kronos Quartet: Black Angels | Performance & Discussion

The INTREPID SEA, AIR, & SPACE MUSEUM will host the Grammy Award-winning KRONOS QUARTET as they perform George Crumb’s Black Angels in the uniquely relevant setting of Intrepid, which served three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. The performance will be followed by a discussion of music’s ability to reflect issues of past and present, with insight and sensitivity. The performance is presented in conjunction with the October opening of the Intrepid Museum’s major new exhibition, On the Line: Intrepid & the Vietnam War, a major exhibition exploring the events and impact of the Vietnam War through the lens of Intrepid’s history. Following the performance, John Schaefer, host of NPR’s Soundcheck, will lead a discussion with the members of the Kronos Quartet and Dr. Steven Bruns, an associate professor of music and expert on George Crumb.
