On the eve of her 100th birthday, activist and immigrant Shirley Novick sat down with her cousin, Lou Reed, for an interview. We'll screen the resulting film, Red Shirley (2010), on May Day, and converse with the artist Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed’s partner and wife for 21 years, and Tony Michels, historian and editor of Radical Jews, to reveal more stories about politics and families.
This public program is part of the Digital Storytelling Workshop, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
This event is free and seating is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 6pm. You can reserve two seats with the purchase of a featured book. To purchase a book for reserved seating, or if you have any questions contact Laura Lee at [email protected] or 212-431-0233 ext. 259.
