Lecture: Walking on Water–The Past and Future of the Old Croton Aqueduct

Join Tom Tarnowsky and Mavis Cain of the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct for this talk about the fascinating history of the 41-mile aqueduct that quenched the thirst of an expanding urban population and saved the city from fires, disease and nasty smells. Completed in 1842, the aqueduct was an engineering marvel that carried fresh water from Westchester County to New York City.

The scenic walking path above the underground aqueduct, now a National Landmark, winds through villages, woodlands, urban areas, and over the newly-restored High Bridge on its journey to Manhattan.
