Focusing on 1779, this lecture will highlight several lesser-known aspects of Washington’s leadership in the Revolution: the rouser-in-chief, urging his countrymen to recover the spirit of ’76 and take action to support the army; his diplomacy; his military aggressiveness; and his plan to drive the British from New York City and end the war in 1779.
