Ever wonder how we went from ancient kings chosen by the gods to CEOs quoting Brené Brown? Leadership may be as old as civilization, but the study of leadership is barely a century young. In this engaging, story-driven talk, Dr. Jake Tuber walks us through the evolution of leadership thought—from divine right and charisma to motivation, emotional intelligence, and psychological safety. Along the way, he unpacks what each theory got right, what it got hilariously wrong, and why we still can’t quite agree on what makes a great leader.
Dr. Jake Tuber is an organizational psychologist and top-rated adjunct professor of industrial-organizational psychology at City College. As Managing Principal of Ticonderoga Advisory, he works with leaders and organizations as an executive coach, talent advisor, and workshop facilitator. He was named one of the “40 Under 40 in Leadership” by the Leadership Center for Excellence and holds degrees from Georgetown and Columbia University.
