Lectures on Tap - "Gravity’s Pull: Our Cosmic Dance"

When: Thu, Jul 2 at 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Where: Midtown Manhattan (LOCATION TBA)
Price: $41.32

James Brown sang that “G R A V I T Y” keeps pulling him back—irresistible, inevitable, inescapable. He was onto something profound. Of the four fundamental forces governing the universe, gravity is by far the weakest, yet it alone shapes planets, steers galaxies, and helps decide our universe’s ultimate fate.

Join astrophysicist Dr. Jay White for a sweeping journey through humanity’s 2,500-year quest to understand the force that holds everything together—from Aristotle’s belief that heavy things “belong” below, to Newton’s realization that the apple and the Moon share the same pull, to Einstein’s mind-bending vision of gravity as the curvature of spacetime itself.

Dr. White is Director of the Talcott Mountain Science Center in Connecticut and Resident Lecturer for Lectures on Tap in Manhattan. He weaves science and storytelling with metaphors from jazz, cooking, and everyday life to show how our human story fits within the cosmic one—and why we’re not just spectators, but active participants in the universe’s great dance.
