Join us for a spellbinding evening as JR Pepper delves into the strange and dramatic friendship between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of the world’s most famous “consulting detective,” and Harry Houdini, the legendary escapologist. Once esteemed colleagues who admired and respected one another, their bond was ultimately shattered when a beautiful medium entered their lives—her supposed supernatural gifts igniting tensions that would sever their friendship forever.
JR Pepper is an adjunct professor of art history at CUNY Brooklyn College, a freelance lecturer, photographer, and self-described “professional eccentric.” Renowned for her work in spirit photography, her work has been featured in Haunted America: FAQ, Vice.com, and Musee Magazine. She is a regular lecturer and contributor to The Dead Ladies, Brooklyn Brainery, and the Long Island Convention of Horror, and a cemetery tour guide at Green-Wood Cemetery in New York. Pepper has documented cemeteries across the country and is the photographer and author of Buried Boston: America's Revolutionary Necropolis and Buried New Orleans: The Resilient Cemeteries of the Crescent City.
