Lectures on Tap - The Radical New Yorker Who Put Women’s Art on the Map
When: Thu, Jul 30 at 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: Prospect Park South (Location TBA)
Price: $41.32
A lecture by Dr. Ilk Yasha examining how artistic practice can operate not only as representation but as resistance, solidarity, and social transformation.
Drawing on the writing and curatorial practice of Lucy Lippard alongside histories of conceptual art, feminist organizing, and working-class cultural production, Yasha explores how artists have challenged economic exclusion and cultural hierarchy. Who is art for? Who gets access, authorship, and cultural legitimacy? The evening considers what it means for art to exist outside — or against — elite systems of power and commodification.
Dr. Yasha is an independent curator, educator, and antidisciplinary facilitator associated with NYU and the Studio Museum in Harlem.
