The Library After Hours: Young at Heart

Join us at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on select Fridays for the city’s most cerebral happy hour. The Library After Hours features music, food and drinks, performances, and behind-the-scenes access to the Library’s collections.

Turn back to childhood for one nostalgic night of reveling in the delight of children’s stories. Check out collections displays of rare children’s literature, watch classic cartoons, craft your own children’s books, and come ready to share your favorite youthful reading memories.

  • A one-night-only specially curated collections display showcasing the Library children’s lit holdings from colonial New England to the early 20th century
  • A selection of classic kids’ cartoons on 16mm film: Dr. Seuss, Silly Symphony, and more.
  • Crafting with the collections: grab a drink and do some coloring of vintage illustrations from Beatrix Potter, Hans Christian Andersen, Mother Goose, and more; create your own illustrated children’s books.
  • Story time! Rediscover the childhood pleasure of being read to.
