How do the world's worst men end up running it?
The answer to this question lies at Bloomfield High School, where the Patriarchy lives everywhere but it breeds in the locker room with every insult flung, punch thrown, and mom disrespected. In this seemingly familiar space, among other students who change and socialize before gym class and football practice, a relationship blossoms between Henry and Bully.
Henry is a bench warmer on the football team while Bully is the star quarterback and the locker room offers a volatile and violent backdrop for this wobbly but lovable relationship. When Henry ultimately decides to end the locker room love affair, the fallout has the power to destroy both of them. In the aftermath, Bully continues his football career and Henry is left to wrestle with his past and his future after graduating and becoming a teacher at the very place he used to despise: Bloomfield High School.
"Locker Room Talk or: How to Survive in a 'Straight' Man's World" voyeuristically depicts this space riddled with mystique and paints a picture of a modern-day origin story of misogyny, homophobia, and the extension of American patriarchy.
