This evening will celebrate Fat Tuesday’s as well as the legendary Betty Carter. Musicians who played with Betty Carter to perform as well as former members of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program.
Former members of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead (a program for young musicians) will commemorate the great Betty Carter: Addison Frei (piano), ArcoIris Sandoval (piano), Barry Stephenson (bass), Diego Joaquin Ramirez (drums) and Charles Turner (vocals).
Betty Carter Band Alumni (musicians who played with Betty) to perform: Marc Cary (piano), JD Allen (saxophone), Kenyatta Beasley (trumpet), Curtis Lundy (bass), Clarence Penn (drums) and Taharqa Patterson (vocals).
Before the concert, A FREE Conversation at 7PM;
Artistic Director of Jazz Programming Willard Jenkins to interview Musical Director Marc Cary, who spent several years as Betty Carter’s music director.
