LPR X: Krishna Bhatt and Gyan Riley at (le) poisson rouge

This concert is a special collaboration between sitar legend Pt. Krishna Bhatt and son and successor to Terry Riley’s great musical heritage, Gyan Riley. Krishna Bhatt is well known for his collaborations with tabla master Zakir Hussain and pioneering minimalist Terry Riley. Krishna’s musical grooming was enhanced by many years of study under the tutelage of Ravi Shankar, Nikhil Banerjee and Ali Akbar Khan. He has toured the world and is widely revered as a master of Hindustani classical music.

Gyan Riley is a classical guitar virtuoso and son of minimalist composer Terry Riley. He frequently collaborates with his father and has released albums on John Zorn’s Tzadick Records. He has also collaborated with artists such as Zakir Hussain, Iva Bittová, and Dawn Upshaw.
