The mystical and magical power of Ancient Egyptian Mummies has long been a fascination to modern society, from medicinal uses to inspiration as prophetic stage prop. However, according to other ancient societies, Egypt was considered to possess more magic than the rest of the world. Using Howard Thurston and his Luxor Mummy as a starting point, Egyptologist in Residence Ava Forte Vitali will guide us through some of the actual magical associations with mummies held by the Ancient Egyptians, and introduce us to a few of the notable royal mummies discovered in Luxor that continue to inspire modern popular culture.
