Macbeth: Toxic Masculinity, Misogyny, & Monarchy

Join us for this lecture on Shakespeare’s darkest play, one that feels eerily relevant today.

We will look at an ambitious and lying tyrant, who unfairly takes control of his country, ruining it; whose identity is tied to the most toxic brand of masculinity, and who encourages such traits in his cronies who, on his orders, attack the innocent, including women and children; who sees violence as a form of sex; and who hates and fears women. We will also discuss Macbeth.

This class will include video clips and discussion.
