Managing Change in NYC Landmarks: Restoration, Rehabilitation and New Design

You’re invited to a talk by Ward Dennis from HQ Preservation. He will use three projects: the restoration and rehabilitation of the Temple Court Building as the Beekman Hotel, 90 West Street and the Brooklyn Museum of Art to illustrate how buildings change over time and how they make decisions about what to keep, what to remove and how to do both.
Ward Dennis is a partner at Higgins Quasebarth & Partners, specializing in the restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive use of historic properties. Ward’s work combines his training and background in materials conservation, urban history and land-use planning.
Dennis received a BA in Geography from Columbia College and an MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University. He is a co-author of The Maintenance and Repair of Architectural Sandstone, a technical publication of the New York Landmarks Conservancy.
