The East 60s and 70s just off Fifth Avenue comprise the city’s richest collection of grand late 19th- and early 20th-century townhouses and institutional buildings. This walking tour with architectural historian Francis Morrone will explore the splendid exteriors of Gilded Age New York and consider the fabled families—Vanderbilts and Astors among them—who inhabited these impressive structures.
Please note: The tour is out-of-doors only, and meets offsite. Location to be emailed to registered participants.
This tour is in conjunction with Gilded New York. Learn about how beaux-arts architects elevated New York society’s taste and gave the city the monuments and buildings we love today.
