Martha Diamond: 1980-1989 at Magenta Plains

Magenta Plains is pleased to present Martha Diamond: 1980-1989, a solo exhibition of historical works by the longtime veteran of the downtown New York art world, opening January 13 – February 17, 2021.
Diamond is best known for her lush and loose abstract cityscapes. Her signature approach is energetic and rigorous, sharply observed and freely lyrical. The elusive fluency of Diamond’s brushstrokes allow distinction between paint surface, performance, image, idea and expectation. She has spent decades breathing in, recording and understanding the spaces, light, installation and memory of the city. On view will be a selection of large-scale paintings alongside an installation of small-scale preparatory studies on Masonite.
Appointments are encouraged, appointments can be made via SeeSaw: https://appointments.seesawmap.com/book/23315/
