Math Encounters: Seeing Is Deceiving - The Geometry of Visual Illusion

When: Wed, Jul 8 at 4:00pm - 5:30pm

Where: Museum of Mathematics
635 Sixth Ave.

212-542-0566

Math Encounters presents "Seeing Is Deceiving: The Geometry of Visual Illusion" featuring Annalisa Crannell at MoMath's new home at 635 Sixth Avenue. The same geometry that allows artists to render depth and dimension on a flat surface can also trick the eye in ways that are hard to explain — and even harder to unsee. Crannell explores the surprising overlap between art, perception, and mathematics in this free public presentation.

Math Encounters is MoMath's popular free public presentation series celebrating the spectacular world of mathematics, funded by Simons Foundation International.

Can't make the afternoon? A 7:00 pm showing is also available.
