Matt Taibbi Presents “I Can’t Breathe”

In conversation with Touré

Rolling Stone journalist and bestselling author Matt Taibbi (called “one of the few journalists in America who speaks truth to power” by Senator Bernie Sanders) presents his newest book I Can’t Breathe, an immersive, riveting account of the infamous killing of Eric Garner on Staten Island by New York City police. In compelling and unforgettable detail, the book introduces readers to Garner and his friends, family and rivals, traces the history of gentrification and policing as it intersects with Garner’s personal narrative, and offers the inside story of the crime, the grand jury, the media circus, and the protests from every side, including the roots of the Black Lives Matter movement. Taibbi discusses his latest book in conversation with writer, TV host, and Greenlight neighbor Touré, author of Who’s Afraid of Post-Blackness?: What It Means to Be Black Now.

Each $30 ticket includes admission to the event, as well as a hardcover copy of I Can’t Breathe; books are distributed at the event. Matt Taibbi will sign books following the discussion (no limit on books per person).
