LIVE from the NYPL | Michael Chabon, Susan Herman, Ayelet Waldman, and Guests: Fight of the Century

Writers and activists looks back at landmark cases that have shaped a century of fighting for our civil liberties.

FEATURING:
Brit Bennett, author The Mothers

Sergio De La Pava, author of A Naked SingularityPersonae, and Lost Empress
Susan Herman, president of the ACLU
Yiyun Li, author most recently of Where Reasons End
Ayelet Waldman, author most recently of A Really Good Day

2020 marks a century of the ACLU working to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties enshrined in our laws and Constitution. To mark the centennial, authors Michael Chabon and Aeyet Waldman have collaborated with the ACLU to curate an anthology of original essays by writers who illuminate historic decisions—from Brown v. Board of Education to Roe v. Wade—that have advanced civil liberties and social justice. Ranging from personal memoir to narrative history, Fight of the Century sheds light on the work of one remarkable organization as it shaped a country.

Chabon and Waldman will be joined in conversation by ACLU president Susan Herman and several of the book’s contributors.
