Michelle Valberg: Wild Creatures, Extreme Conditions

As a visual story teller, Michelle Valberg will enlighten us with stunning, high impact and compelling photographs of the people, landscapes and wildlife of Canada.

Michelle Valberg is a renowned wildlife, landscape and portrait photographer who has been telling stories with her camera for more than 30 years. She is a Canadian Nikon Ambassador and Canadian Geographic Photographer-in-Residence and has exhibited her work internationally. Michelle’s work has been featured on the cover of magazines including Outdoor Photographer, National Geographic and Canadian Geographic. Michelle has also published five books and is a Fellow of the Explorer’s Club. Known for her unique ability to create relatable images of unimaginable landscapes and wild creatures, Michelle finds art in all of nature’s most intimate moments. The world around us mirrors what we see in ourselves, she says, including our beauty, our simplicity, our complications and our responsibilities.

The Photography Committee of the New York City Group of the Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra Club aims to further the purposes of the Sierra Club through photography and to provide a place where members may share their ideas and interests in photography. Monthly meetings are open to anyone interested in nature photography. There is a suggested donation of $7 at the door. Membership in Sierra Photo NYC is open to anyone with a current membership in the Sierra Club.
