Mind, Mood and Happiness: Transforming the Self

Neuroscientific insights and new fields such as “Health Psychology” and “Learned Optimism” have recently been revealing that people can learn to change their thinking and behavior in ways that revitalize the brain and enhance happiness and well-being. Eastern wisdom teachings have long taught “skillful methods” for the study and transformation of the mind/body, including a range of awareness, concentration and mindfulness practices aimed at enhancing health, clarity of mind and compassion.

Today, using techniques drawn from modern positive psychology (including the Gestalt and Somatic schools), mindfulness meditation, yogic traditions, creative thinking, and “non-dual” spiritual teachings, we will discover how we can regulate our mind/body states and develop trust in our unconscious to boost our creativity, vitality, and well-being. We will also explore the neuroscience of a mindful brain and discuss  moods, dissatisfaction/satisfaction, contentment and happiness from both Western and Buddhist perspectives.

This workshop can be of great benefit to both those in helping professions interested in using these practices to work with patients and to those simply interested in acquiring powerful self-healing techniques.
