Modern Mondays: An Evening with Ann Magnuson

Ann Magnuson, the legendary doyenne of New York’s 1980s downtown scene, hosts Dream Sequencing, an evening of song, video, and film clips celebrating the life of the subconscious. Opening with cinematic dream sequences both familiar and obscure, the program is centered on rarely seen Magnuson performance videos, including Vandemonium (1987), In Search of My Blonde Roots (2001), and Time Traveling Hooker (2008). Magnuson will also re-create several tracks from her latest CD, Dream Girl. Her longtime friend performance artist Joey Arias, members of the psycho-psychedelic band Bongwater (1985–92), and other special guests will share the stage. Magnuson’s first appearance as a performer in New York since 2010, this event serves as a preview of MoMA’s fall 2017 exhibition about Manhattan’s famed Club 57 (1978–83).
