Morbid Academy Presents: The Real Paranormal

A monthly series of provocative and useful dialogues with artists, writers, filmmakers, and scholars who broaden our understanding of the ill-considered and the unknown, hosted by PEN Award-winning historian Mitch Horowitz.

A conversation with Stacy Horn and Mitch Horowitz: Stacy wrote one of the truly great works exploring ESP research, Unbelievable: Investigations into Ghosts Poltergeists, Telepathy, and Other Unseen Phenomena, from the Duke Parapsychology Laboratory. She and Mitch will discuss the compelling evidence for the reality of ESP and why it hasn’t reached the public and also consider the career of pioneering parapsychologist JB Rhine. Stacy will explore some of the extraordinary stories she has produced for NPR’s “All Things Considered,” including the cold case of five children who disappeared in West Virginia in 1945.
