The New Yorker Festival | Paul Feig Talks with Tad Friend

Paul Feig’s films include “Bridesmaids,” “The Heat,” “Spy,” and this year’s “Ghostbusters,” a reboot of the comedy franchise. He is the creator of the critically acclaimed show “Freaks and Geeks,” and his writing for the show was nominated for two Emmy Awards. His work on the television show “The Office” was nominated for two Emmys, and he also received a Directors Guild Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series.

Tad Friend joined The New Yorker as a staff writer in 1998. He is the author of a memoir, “Cheerful Money: Me, My Family, and the Last Days of Wasp Splendor,” and a collection of nonfiction, “Lost in Mongolia: Travels in Hollywood and Other Foreign Lands.” His recent New Yorker articles include “Tomorrow’s Advance Man,” about the venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, and “The Mogul of the Middle,” about the new Hollywood studio STX Entertainment.
