The United Nations has named 2012 the International Year of Cooperatives. In this time of economic hardship for many New Yorkers, workers from neighborhoods throughout the city are forming cooperatives that create jobs, provide need services, and help to keep tax dollars within local communities. Join us for a conversation with Jane Jacobs Award-winner Omar Freilla, founder of Green Worker Cooperatives in the South Bronx; Vanessa Bransburg, Cooperative Coordinator at the Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Brooklyn; members of the Green Worker Coop Academy; and other coop workers and organizers.
