Jelly Rolly Morton, Chano Pozo and Arabian Nights all figure hugely in Pablo Medina’s Cubop City Blues, a novel that takes place in a jazz-infused facsimile of New York City. Medina’s near-blind narrator known as The Storyteller, cares for his cancer-stricken parents by telling them stories informed only by his imagination.
Medina will read from his latest novel, followed by a discussion and Q&A with the poet and novelist Rigoberto Gonzales.
