Panel Discussion: The NAACP at 110

In the room where it all began—Henry Street Settlement’s historic dining room—“We Call Upon the Believers in Democracy: The NAACP at 110” will explore the origin of the NAACP and how the organization has evolved, endured, and raised debate over the past 110 years.

Dominique Jean-Louis, public historian of African American history & Caribbean immigration, project curatorial historian at the New-York Historical Society, and PhD candidate at New York University

Robyn C. Spencer, historian, professor at City University of New York, and author of The Revolution Has Come: Black Power, Gender, and the Black Panther Party in Oakland

L. Joy Williams, president of Brooklyn NAACP and founder and principal of New York-based consulting firm LJW Strategies

Moderated by Anna Duensing, public historian and PhD candidate in history and African American Studies, Yale University
